Bar Mercer is the new venture of legendary NYC restaurateur John McDonald. Taking over the space where Bar Tulux used to be, it’s all very SoHo: brick walls, industrial ceiling, and that sort of lived-in chic that makes it feel utterly timeless. Lure Fishbar Exec Chef Preston Clark also lords over the kitchen here, where he mixes up comfort classics - burgers, fish & chips, pigs in a blanket - with a smart selection of oysters and something called “Hangover Pasta”. McDonald has cultivated a significant fashion and celeb following, so expect prime people watching here, especially at the bar.
